Akela Dogbe joins our board as a dedicated Tidewater Montessori School parent and seasoned education management professional.
With over twenty years of experience, Akela is an accomplished urban school administrator and leadership development consultant. She specializes in transformational school administration, effective classroom instruction, and curriculum development.
Akela started her Montessori journey at Near North Montessori in Chicago, IL, where she embraced the AMI model as a learning specialist. She has since contributed to Montessori education as a school leader and Chair of a Montessori Public Charter School Board in Washington, D.C.
In her administrative role, Akela excels in mobilizing teams to enhance learning growth. As a curriculum developer, she designs culturally responsive courses for various educational settings. Her expertise in instructional models serves both community organizations and publishing houses.
Akela holds a B.A. in English from Spelman College, an M.A. in Education Policy from Loyola University Chicago, and a Master’s in Executive Leadership from Georgetown University.
